Compared with conventional nylons, nylon 4.6 has a better retention of stiffness and creep resistance over a wide range of temperatures as well as a superior heat-ageing resistance. These improved physical properties are determined by the composition and structure of the material’s molecular chain.
nylon 4.6 is ideally suited to applications in the higher temperature range (80-150°C) where the stiffness, creep resistance, heat-ageing resistance, fatigue strength and wear resistance of standard cast nylons are not sufficient.
nylon 4.6 has all the main characteristics normally associated with cast nylons – high mechanical damping, sliding and machining properties and good electrical insulation. It also exhibits excellent resistance to high-energy radiation.
